Gems in the woods

2020

n.d.

Looking at the Megève landscape, artist Jason Dodge thought about the author Emily Dickinson and how she refers to gems in her poems. They are both crystal and crystalline in terms of energy, but also precious, valuable. Moreover, when we think about gems, we can imagine their price, but we actually often don’t have the ability to see the difference between things. The value of gems is symbolic. The artist made a collection of very precious gems and some very invaluable objects, and planted them like seeds throughout the landscape, giving them another future life that is completely unknown to us.
